Are the "Bells" in Your Life Building You or Breaking You?

Updated: Apr 1, 2019

It's important to get comfortable with giving ourselves permission to not live in a state of constant panic.

I was talking with a friend the other day and she shared a funny story I wanted to pass along.

She owned a ferret a while ago and was frustrated because the ferret was always escaping and she was unable to find it for hours at a time.

When she did, he was in the oddest of places.

So she came up with this brilliant idea to always know where he was....put a bell around his neck so she would hear him and find him more quickly.

Genius! Or.....maybe not so much.

It wasn't long before she noted he was losing massive amounts of hair. There were huge patches of hair falling out and she was so concerned that she took him to the vet.

Their response?

The bell was causing anxiety and since the ferret was unable to escape the bell, the ferret was in constant panic mode and so stressed out that he was physically showing signs of an illness of sorts.

We laughed but it really isn't that funny.

We so often live in a state of panic or rush, filling up our day with so many activities and responsibilities. Before we know it, our day has come to a close and we haven't even spent any time just relaxing.

I get it. Believe me. We weren't made to run all day.

Mentally, emotionally, physically....it isn't normal and our body doesn't like it.

So please. Avoid the health issues associated with stress.

It's just not worth it!

Find that place to breathe again.

Listen to your own heartbeat.

Allow your soul to dance.

Love like there's no tomorrow.

Lastly, decide if the "bells" in your life are building you....or breaking your spirit.

Because you are worth taking the time to put up your feet and enjoy this space
